The company started because of a desire to commercially develop the underutilised forest plant products in the province of KwaZulu Natal, particularly targeting indigenous fruit, vegetable oil and essential oil plants. Currently, the target plants are mafura (Trichilia emitica), Strychnos madagascariensis, Ximenia caffra (for fixed oil), Blumea crispata and Blumea alata (for essential oils Strychnos spinosa, Saba comorensis and Salacia kraussi (for fruit juice)
